Hosts a legal clinic specifically designed to address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and couples. This clinic is run by QLaw Foundation in partnership with the King County Bar Association. The clinic is open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. At the clinic, an attorney will meet with clients for 30 minutes and provide individualized legal advice and information. Clinic attorneys will answer questions and provide information in a variety of areas including family law, immigration, debt and bankruptcy, divorce/dissolution, employment discrimination, and transgender legal issues.

Law requires for individuals to attend an informational briefing before filing bankruptcy and an education course after filing. CCCS provides both courses quickly and affordably. A pre-filing certificate can be earned by discussing your current financial situation with a credit counselor and by attending a 2 hour course you can earn a discharge education certificate.  The course will cover developing a spending plan, identity theft, financial planning, wise use of credit, and rebuilding credit standing.

Staff or volunteer attorneys provide potential Chapter 7 Bankruptcy filers with the information and forms necessary to successfully file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on their own. There is a bi-monthly Bankruptcy Prep Clinic that provides information about preparing to file a Chapter 7 case, and a monthly Bankruptcy Forms Clinic that provides a review of the bankruptcy forms that will be filed with the court. In addition to the prep and form clinics, a staff attorney is available to confer individually with clients as needed.

Chinese Information and Service Center, Asian Bar Association of Washington, and Asian Counseling and Referral Service partner with the King County Bar Association to provide a free legal clinic. Pro bono attorneys work with staff and volunteer interpreters to give consultation and legal advice around family law, immigration law, landlord-tenant disputes, employment law, and other areas. Offers representation in Chapter 7 & 13 Bankruptcy for a sliding-scale flat fee. Service includes: Consultation/ evaluation, preparation and filing of petition, preparation for and attendance at Meeting of Creditors, and brief advice for related issues arising during the course of the bankruptcy.    Services for related issues that arise, such as adversary proceedings and motion practice are NOT included as part of the bankruptcy package and may require additional fees.

We offer an online course that meets the requirements which mandates completion of an instructional/education course in personal financial management in order for an individual chapter 7 or 13 debtor to receive a bankruptcy discharge.

The VLP strives to help low-income community members help themselves with civil legal matters by providing legal education through clinics, classes, and in-court volunteers. The VLP's primary focus is Family Law, but the program also assists with certain housing, consumer, and bankruptcy issues.

Provides budget and debt management and repayment counseling, HUD approved mortgage delinquency and default resolution counseling, home purchase counseling, bankruptcy counseling, post-bankruptcy education, and student loan counseling.

The pre-bankruptcy counseling process will entail a 60-90min counseling session. It is designed to examine your current financial situation and provide you with options that will help you make an informed decision regarding your financial difficulties. During the counseling session, one of our certified credit counselors will work with you to determine what your current income and assets are versus your monthly liabilities. This information will then be used to create an accurate and detailed monthly budget to provide you with a clear and concise snapshot of your overall financial situation.   At the end of the counseling process the counselor will provide you with a certificate showing your participation and completion of the pre-bankruptcy counseling session. This certificate will enable you to complete the bankruptcy process.

Kitsap Legal Services works with volunteer attorneys who will give legal advice and limited assistance to low-income Kitsap County residents.. All legal consultations are by appointment only and potential clients must go through the eligibility process. Currently, most legal appointments are occurring by phone or Zoom. There is often a waiting period of several weeks for an appointment and we typically CANNOT provide an attorney to go with you to court. If you are facing eviction, and you meet eligibility requirements, we may be able to provide an attorney to immediately represent you.
