Offers a series of free classes that help families prepare their children for Kindergarten.
Parents or caregivers are encouraged to attend all the classes in the series.
Parents learn new skills and helpful tips to nurture development in ways that foster academic skills and personal behaviors to boost children's motivation, perseverance and engagement in learning.
Program facilitates interactions and active learning by using movement, play, exploration, communication and all of a child's senses - seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting.
One series targets households with 4 or 5 year olds, and the other is for households with 3 to 4 year olds.
Transition to Kindergarten
Offers an early start Kindergarten program for children who turn 5 after August 31st, and who have not had a formal preschool/Head Start experience.
Program starts in January, and is a full-day, 20 week program.
Kaleidoscope Play & Learn Groups offered at Child Care Action Council
Offers new parents and caregivers of young children a chance to come together for a weekly, no-cost, one-and-a-half hour play group. Register online.
Kaleidoscope Play & Learn is a development-centered playgroup for children ages birth to five and their caregivers/parents. Our trained playgroup facilitators lead engaging circle-time activities including story time, songs, interactive games, art activities. We operate weekly play groups throughout Grays Harbor, Mason, and Thurston counties.

- Incredible Years Parent Training: helps parents understand how to build a positive relationship with their child. Available at the Wenatchee Family Resource Center or in-home. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker.
- Project Safe Care: boosts parenting skills, while teaching how to improve the health of the child. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker.
-Triple P: evidence- based program boosts parenting skills. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker.
- Triple Point: Local program for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex) youth, 12 to 18 years old. Provides a safe place where youth can make positive connections, learn about community resources, receive the support they need, receive counseling, as well as participate in regular meetings with other LGBTQ+ youth and group leaders.

- Readiness to Learn: works with children so they can be successful in school and in the community. Serves students in the Entiat, Eastmont and Wenatchee school districts.
- Truancy Invention Program: gives students a boost to help improve attendance. Serves students in the Wenatchee School District in partnership with Chelan County Juvenile Center.

Parents are encouraged to implement the early learning activities from the ELC to their homes and community.
Early Head Start / Head Start offered at Kitsap Community Resources
Provides children (0-5) with comprehensive education, health, parent involvement, and social services. Serves at-risk children with activities to help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically.
KCR provides free preschool programs for children (ages 0-5) from income-eligible families and for children with special needs. These programs provide a wide array of services for children and families, including safe and affordable child care at many locations. Health, nutrition and dental assistance is provided along with education and developmental screenings for children. Program Hours: We offer full-day options with extended day childcare and part-day options without childcare. Hours vary by center. Benefits: Early Head Start and Head Start provides children with activities to build school readiness skills. The programs set the foundation for future academic success in literacy, math, the arts, science and social interactions. The Early Head Start and Head Start staff recognize that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. Programs are locally designed serving children with special needs and values diversity Programs are comprehensive: Education: Children learn the skills and concepts they need to succeed in school. Health: Children gain access to medical, dental, mental and nutritional health services. Parent Involvement: Parents are involved in their children’s education.
