Early Learning Services offered at Tacoma Public Schools

Offers several programs to help with Early Learning. Preschool: All Tacoma Public School preschool programs provide a safe and nurturing environment. Goal is to prepare students for kindergarten and beyond, using researched-based, age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on the domains of Early Learning essential to school readiness: - Social and Emotional Development - Language and Literacy - Perceptual, Motor, and Physical Development - Cognition. Preschool programs, including full-day and half-day programs, are offered at many locations across the Tacoma School District. Families with an annual household income below 500 percent of the Federal Poverty Level will receive priority consideration for enrollment into free programs. ChildFind: Offers free screening for vision, hearing, motor coordination, language, learning and behavior skills for preschool aged children with a suspected disability.

Application process

Call or visit the website for more information. Apply online for pre-school. Parents/Guardians create an account with Tacoma Public Schools online system. Current Preschool families or those with older students may already have an account.

Fee

No cost to eligible families.

Eligibility

Early Learning: Households in the Tacoma School District who will be 3 or 4 by August 31st. Incomes at or below 500% of Federal Poverty Level. ChildFind: Children Birth to Three living in the Tacoma School District.

Tacoma Public Schools

Provides programs for disabled students from 3 to 21 years of age. Provides all elementary, middle, and high schools with counselors to assist students and their families in the areas of education, career, social, and emotional development. School nurses are also available to assist with students' health concerns.
