District Court - South Division offered at District Court - South Division
Resolves and adjudicates infractions, criminal traffic and criminal non-traffic violations.
Hears misdemeanor criminal cases, civil cases where damages amount to less than $50,000, small claims, traffic cases, and requests for domestic violence protection orders.
Court Services offered at Kirkland Municipal Court
Hears criminal misdemeanor cases and processes non-criminal traffic citations/violations for the city of Kirkland and neighboring cities.
Hears all criminal misdemeanor cases and processes all non-criminal traffic citations, school zone and parking citations.
Criminal Citations:
If a criminal citation is received in the mail or from a police officer for Kirkland Municipal Court, a court hearing is mandatory. If you have questions, you may contact the court to inquiry if your hearing is required in-person or by a Zoom hearing.
Failure to appear will result in a warrant being issued for the violator's arrest.
Look for an arraignment date in the lower left-hand portion of the citation.
If no date appears, the court will issue a summons for your court date within two-to-three weeks.
Traffic Infractions:
Individuals must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan.
After 30 days, a late penalty is added.
Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency and may result in a driver's license suspension.
School Zone and Parking Tickets:
A person must respond to a parking ticket within 30 days by requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan.
After 30 days a late penalty is added.

The driver is denied new license tabs until all fines are paid.
