Court Services offered at Federal Way Municipal Court
Handles civil and traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, and civil vehicle impound hearings.
Municipal court is a court of limited jurisdiction.
The judge is authorized by Washington state statute to preside over the following types of cases:
- Civil and traffic infractions
- Criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors
- Civil vehicle impound hearings.
The court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing, and reviews.
The court provides related services including legal representation for indigent persons, work crew and probation supervision, and public defense screener services. The court does not hear small claims cases, change names, or issue passports or marriage licenses.
Offers a relicensing program.
Contracts with the Dispute Resolution Center of King County to allow low-cost mediations to take place at the courthouse.

Court Services offered at Black Diamond Municipal Court
Provides services related to civil traffic infractions and all criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor incidents that occur within the city of Black Diamond and are filed with the court.

Municipal Court - Mount Vernon offered at Municipal Court - Mount Vernon
Hears misdemeanor, gross misdemeanors, infractions and parking cases.
Responsible for processing citations issued in violation of City Ordinances and some State Statutes by the Mount Vernon Police Department. The court sets cases for arraignment, hearing, trial or probation revocation.Hears misdemeanor, gross misdemeanors, infractions and parking cases.
District Court offered at Chelan County District Court
Handles criminal and civil matters, including traffic violations.
Provides limited jurisdiction court services, including those cases that would normally be filed in a Municipal Court for the Cities of Wenatchee, Leavenworth, Cashmere and Chelan. The court handles both criminal and civil matters.
- Criminal Cases involve crimes punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine and include such charges as theft, domestic violence, assault, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, hit and run, reckless endangerment, malicious mischief, and driving with a suspended license.
- Civil matters include personal injury, property damage, and contract disputes. Current civil jurisdiction for actions filed in District Court is $75,000 and the Small Claims jurisdiction in $5,000. The court's jurisdiction also covers civil anti-harassment actions, stalking, name changes, impound hearings, and certain lien foreclosures.
Also handles traffic infractions for such violations as speeding, negligent driving, failure to stop, driving without liability insurance, and driving without a driver's license. Other citations include red light camera and parking violations.
Has jurisdiction over all city violations, traffic cases, and criminal and gross misdemeanors within Seattle city limits.
Court has jurisdiction over all violations of the Seattle Municipal Code.
Hears misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic and non-traffic infractions, and parking violations.
Those charged with a criminal, jailable offense may be eligible for a public defender at the public's expense.
Superior Court offered at Island County Superior Court
These courts have exclusive jurisdiction for felony matters, real property rights, domestic relations, estate, mental illness, juvenile, and civil cases over $50,000.
State trial courts that handle infractions punishable by a fine; misdemeanor cases such as petty theft, prostitution, intoxication and vandalism punishable by a fine with a maximum level (usually $1000) and maximum amount of time in county jail (usually a year or less); and felony cases such as murder, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, robbery and rape that are punishable by a state prison term.

Hears misdemeanor criminal cases, civil cases where damages amount to less than $50,000, small claims, traffic cases, and requests for domestic violence protection orders.

City Court Services offered at City of Yakima's Municipal Court
Hears and determines all cases, civil or criminal, including traffic, parking, and animal control infractions, arising under city ordinance and pronounce judgment in accordance therewithin.

Criminal Court offered at Pierce County District Court
Has jurisdiction over cases involving misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and criminal traffic violations for which the maximum fine is $5,000 and/or one year in jail.
Has jurisdiction over cases involving misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and traffic violations.
These case filings include charges such as:
- Driving While License Suspended,
- DUI,
- Reckless Driving,
- Negligent Driving,
- Assault 4.
Mandatory appearance by the defendant is required.
The maximum penalty can reach one year in jail and up to a $5,000 fine.
Criminal Court offered by King County District Court at Shoreline at West Division
Provides jurisdiction over misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and some criminal traffic violations, preliminary felony hearings.
Has jurisdiction over misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and criminal traffic violations for which the maximum fine is $5,000 and/or 364 days in jail. Preliminary hearings for felony cases are also within the jurisdiction of the court. Examples of misdemeanors are disorderly conduct, shoplifting and prostitution. Gross misdemeanors include theft of property or services valued up to $250, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or other drugs, and hit-and-run. The trial in a criminal action may be heard before either a judge or a jury.

The Centralia Municipal Court records and processes citations and infractions filed by the Centralia Police Department and complaints filed by the City Attorney's Office.
