In-Kind Donations Service offered at DESC's Rainier House
Accepts donations of items to distribute to homeless and recently homeless clients. Accepts a variety of donations. Cannot pick up donations. Can provide tax receipts. See description for full list of accepted donations.
Accepts donations of in-kind items to give to both housed and unhoused clients. Accepted donations include the following:
- Adult clothing
- Hygiene items
- Microwaves, blenders, fans
- Dishes, pots, pans, silverware, cooking utensils
- Twin size bedding
- Sleeping bags or tents
- Non-expired, shelf-ready food that does not need to be refrigerated
Items always needed:
- Men’s cut pants
- Men’s cut coats
- Women’s cut plus-sized clothing
- Menstrual hygiene products
- Coffee (beans or ground)
- Sleeping bags and tents
- New adult-sized socks and underwear (in packaging)
Items NOT accepted include the following:
- Furniture (including office or bedroom furniture)
- Home décor
- Books
- Pet items
- Perishable or expired food
- Medicines of any kind

Provides a three day supply of food for one family. Amount given depends upon family size and verification of size will be requested. There is printed information available for other services offered in the community.

The food bank is open to all who are in need of food. Drop in to receive assistance. Families can be served every two weeks. Serves anyone in need of food.

Every Friday, non-perishable food is placed into backpacks for elementary and middle school children identified as in-need. Households are identified by the school counselor.
Through our ‘Power Pack’ program, we ensure at-risk students can develop and grow, succeed in school, and feel self-worth by providing healthy bags of food by Friday each week so the students are nourished over the weekend and return to school and ready to learn.
