Topics include: job search strategies, skills and abilities analysis, perfecting applications, effective resumes, and cover letters, interviewing techniques, computer classes and weekly job networking club. Also provides free technology use for your career exploration and job searching needs. Computers with internet access, assessment, and interview practice software, create and print your resume and other employment-related documents, fax applications to employers. Copiers and phones are available for job search.  

Provides a wide range of employment and training counseling and services for youth, adults, and dislocated workers; including training, education, and support they may need to pursue their career and succeed in the workforce. Programs: - Basic Food Employment and Training (BFET): Training services provide resume writing, interview skills, assistance with starting a career, and job search assistance, BFET provides employment readiness opportunities to Basic Food (SNAP) recipients who are not receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). - Dislocated Worker (WIOA): Services include career transition counseling, tuition assistance, paid business internships, and on the job training. Workers must be laid off due to no fault of their own and eligible for UI (company closure, downsize, skill no longer in demand, etc.). Special funding and programming is available for those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. - Low-Income Adult Services: Provides employment and training services to low-income adults ages 18-72, with a priority to veterans, TANF recipients, those who do not have a HS diploma or GED, and those who are not financially self-sufficient. Services include career exploration, tuition assistance, paid on the job training and internships, emergency support and ongoing counseling through job retention. - Youth Services: Offers paid job & career training, educational assistance, (GED, HS Diploma, Post-Secondary), certification & credential options, job search assistance, tuition assistance, paid work experience for youth 16-24 yrs of age, and are a WA State ID holder & resident. Offers an employment program to help individuals struggling with homelessness and other barriers find employment. Program offers case management and individualized employment plans, job search basics, career exploration and job readiness training.   Once enrolled, program may also provide additional community resource referrals, including the following: -Assistance with work related costs (transportation, clothing, housing, training supplies, etc. ) -Job readiness training and skill building (resume, interviewing, job hunting, etc. ) -Job search assistance and employment retention Support services distribution is contingent on program funding and is not guaranteed.

SPIPA Workforce Development Program offers support services, and case management with a focus on education and career development in Kitsap and Pierce counties.

A local veterans employment specialist and Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists are available to assist the veteran population.  Job referral and placement assistance are provided to veterans.

Supports comprehensive employment and training activities while helping clients get the trainings and certifications needed to build a sustainable career, including: -Job counseling -Academic counseling and assistance -Referrals and placement -Support with applications to government benefit programs, such as unemployment and SNAP -Employment-related training Training/Education Incentive:  Individuals entering an accredited college or vocational school program may be eligible for tuition assistance.  Proof of registration and paid fees will be required.    Referrals:  Staff may provide referrals to apprenticeship programs and help clients with job searches.   Support Services:  Upon completing the Workforce Readiness class and finding employment, clients may be eligible for supportive services at the discretion of the Director of the Employment and Training Department.  These services may include: -  Transportation allowance -  Food allowance -  Shoes   -  Work clothing (if required by employer) -  Other reasonable job-related expenses   Summer Youth Employment Experience:  Limited number of work experience positions are available during the summer months to eligible high school students.  Interested parties should contact the WIA office in January for more information.
