Vision and Hearing Assistance offered at Lions Club - Quilcene
Helps low income residents obtain eyeglasses, vision exams, and hearing aids.
The Lion's Club helps low income residents obtain eyeglasses, vision exams, and hearing aids. They can arrange for seeing eye dogs, coordinate with the NW Lions Foundation, and a local physician for organ donations. They can also provide information and referrals. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis. When funds are low, priority is given to youth. They also participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.

Eye Care and Glasses Prescriptions offered by Harborview Medical Center's Eye Clinic
Offers eye exams, emergency eye care, diagnosis and treatment of rare eye diseases, eye surgery and referral for low vision aids. Tests appropriate visual aids on patient. Operates a separate optical shop with eye exams, glasses and glasses repair.
Provides comprehensive eye care services:
- General eye examinations
- Prescriptions (although eyeglasses are not manufactured at this clinic)
- Emergency care
- Treatment of rare eye diseases
- Referral for low-vision aids such as special magnifiers and glasses
Provides comprehensive medical and surgical vision care services:
- Routine dilated eye exams
- Visual acuity
- Color vision
- Depth perception
- Management of ocular diseases
- Eye surgery.
Additionally, diagnostic testing is provided for visual field defects, glaucoma, and diabetes with ocular involvement.
Eyes on James Optical Shop, located in Harborview's Ninth and Jefferson Building, is a full service optical shop that offers

Special Grants offered by Honor and Courage Foundation
Provides one-time emergency grants up to $250 to wounded, ill or injured honorably discharged servicemembers or their caregivers for assistance with basic needs such as food, utilities, housing and clothing. Case manager must submit request.
Provides one-time emergency grants up to $250 to post 9/11 wounded servicemembers or their caregivers for assistance with basic needs.
Grant money is paid directly to the person owed the debt such as a landlord or utility company whenever possible.
Examples of small grants include food, utilities, housing, clothing, health expenses, assistance with child care, vehicle repairs & other routine household expenses, home & vehicle adaption, funeral expenses, adaptive equipment, moving assistance, travel, etc.
Financial and Referral Assistance offered at A Gift For Special Children
Offers financial assistance to families with developmentally disabled children 0-18 years of age for needs including diapers, wheelchair ramps, non-prescription medication, equipment, food, respite, utilities, and other housing expenses.
Offers assistance to families with children ages 0-18 years who have special needs and/or disease. We can support families with gas vouchers for appointments, equipment-furniture, food, utilities, car repair, and housing.
Therapeutic and Assistive Technology Services offered at PROVAIL
Assists children and adults with disabilities in overcoming barriers faced in the workplace, school, at home or in recreational activities through occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy and assistive technology.

Therapists work directly with clients, traveling to their home, work place or school as necessary and coordinating with the critical members of that individual’s team, including the family, employer, counselor and vendor. Assistive technology program provides a variety of services including communication, visual and auditory aids.
Lions Patient Care Grants Program offered at Northwest Lions Foundation
Offers financial assistance for special equipment and medical procedures to persons with sight/hearing impairments through Patient Care Grants offered by local Lions Clubs. Must be at or below 133% of the FPL.
Assists individuals with visual or hearing impairments by providing financial assistance for assistive technology or medical procedures through Patient Care Grants.
Grants are offered in a partnership with the Northwest Lions Foundation and local Lions Clubs.
Support from the Patient Care Program goes to cover everything from a prosthetic eye to cataract surgery to Braille readers.
Does not provide eyeglasses or eye exams.
Equipment Distribution Program offered by Deaf-Blind Service Center
Enables qualifying individuals who are deaf and blind access to current communication technology like email, text and telephone to interact with the world as an involved member of society.

Assistive Technology Financial Loans offered at Northwest Access Fund
Provides low-interest loans to Washington residents with disabilities of all types for purchases of medical equipment, assistive technology, business, and home and vehicle access.
Provides low-interest loans to people with disabilities for purchases of assistive technology including:
- Durable medical equipment (wheelchairs, hearing aids, patient lifts, etc.)
- Adaptive technology
- Home and vehicle access modifications and equipment (adapted vehicles, smart home technology, computers, widening of doorways, etc. )
- Dentures
Also helps callers locate other funding sources.
Assistive technology loan terms are up to five years with a 5% interest rate.
Home modification loan terms are up to 10 years with a 5% interest rate.
Adapted vehicle loan terms are up to 10 years with an interest rate that can vary.
Loan amounts are up to $25,000 for assistive technology and up to $60,000 for home modification and adapted vehicle loans.
There are no fees to apply or for early payoff.
