This program also assists individuals in retraining programs reach their schools or training sites, and low-income families and their children to daycare when the parent is working.
Paratransit offered by Whatcom Transportation Authority
Provides curb-to-curb transportation to riders whose disability prevents them from riding the fixed route bus system.
Provides curb-to-curb (and if needed, door-to-door) transportation to riders whose disability prevents them from riding the fixed route bus system. Paratransit service is designed to be equal to the fixed route service. Paratransit’s service area and hours of operation mirror those of the fixed routes. Riders often share their rides with others to meet demand.

Ruston and Tideflats Runner offered by Pierce Transit
On-demand transportation along Ruston Way and the Tideflats. Vans can accommodate wheelchairs and bicycles. Vehicles pick up/drop off anywhere a car can go, including parking lots and pull-outs along Ruston Way/Tideflats. Access at Tacoma Dome and Commerce Transit Centers.
Provides on-demand point to point public transportation services in the recreations zones along Ruston Way in Tacoma, and the commuter-oriented employment zone in the Tideflats. Uses vans that can accommodate wheelchairs and bicycles so the service is easy for anyone to use. Vehicles pick up and drop off anywhere a car can go, including parking lots and pull-outs along Ruston Way/Tideflats. Designated pick-up and drop off areas are located at the Tacoma Dome and the Commerce Street Transit Centers.
Service animals are welcome, but pets cannot be accommodated.
This is a pilot project and service may be limited especially at peak times and when events are happening in the zone.

Provides public transportation in Columbia County and surrounding areas. For those residents living outside the city limits, transportation is dependent on the availability of a vehicle to provide service to that outlying area.

Specialized Van Service (SVS) is a public transportation service designed especially for people who are unable to use the regular fixed route bus service due to a disability or condition. SVS is a shared-ride service that provides trips on a reservation basis to areas where Grays Harbor Transit operates regularly scheduled local bus service in Grays Harbor County only. SVS service provides door-to-door service, or, in some instances, transportation to transit centers or bus stops to connect with fixed route bus service.
SVS service area is 3/4 of a mile from the fixed route bus route in Grays Harbor County and up to 3 miles from the fixed route bus route in Aberdeen, Hoquiam, and South Aberdeen. This is a certified scheduled service for those who are not able to utilize fixed routes bus due to disability.

Cowlitz Tribal Transit Services offers rural dial-a-ride transit services up to 20 miles from Interstate 5. All vehicles are equiped with wheelchair lifts to ease boarding for individuals with wheelchairs or other mobility devices.

Provides transportation to places outside of city limits for residents who are 60 years or older, veterans, persons with disabilities, low-income, and children with special needs to nutrition sites, medical appointments, DSHS, and other sites.
Provides fare-free door-to-door transportation in Yakima County for residents who are 60 years or older, veterans, persons with disabilities, low-income individuals, and children with special needs to locations outside of city limits. Transportation may be used for medical appointments, necessary grocery shopping, DSHS visits, Social Security office, WorkSource, and other sites, as funding allows. Also provides transportation for individuals who attend school, are seeking employment, or who have employment but no transportation (must live in an area where there is no transit bus service). The pick-up and drop-off point may be at the closest suitable intersection to your destination. Please be prepared for a pick-up by allowing for a ten minute window either before or after your scheduled time.

A rural transportation program providing limited transportation service to older adults and people with disabilities outside the DART service area. Provides free transportation service for COVID vaccination and/or boosters.

Clients are picked up at their door and delivered to their destination or transferred to another transportation provider (DART, Everett Para Transit, or ACCESS).
Can provide group transportation for local special events. TAP buses are wheelchair equipped, accommodate up to 13 people, and must be reserved in advance.

Transportation offered at Catholic Community Volunteer Services
Provides volunteers who can assist with transportation for low-income seniors 55+ and adults with disabilities. Does not transport minors. Transportation is provided by volunteers in their personal vehicles. Call United Way of Pierce County to be screened/apply.
Provides volunteers who can assist with door-thru-door transportation for low-income seniors, 55 and older, or adults with disabilities. Transportation is provided by screened and trained volunteer drivers in their personal vehicle.
Rides must originate in Pierce County. Rides depend on volunteer availability.
Does not qualify for services if:
- Going to/from a Medicaid appointment (Medicaid Beneficiaries may receive services to appts not covered by Medicaid - Chiropractor, Eyeglass, pet care, etc; or possibly if Medicaid rides have been denied or are not covered)
- Using a wheelchair (unless they fold and can be placed in the trunk and client can transfer themselves)
- Living in a Group Home
- Living in a Assisted Living Facility
- Living in a Care Facility
- Receiving COPES
- Has a paid Caregiver
- Client can use Transit, has own car, or lives with family member who has car.
**Exception: Volunteer Services can fill in if family has one car and family member works full time which doesn't allow for client to receive rides**
**Examples of Exceptions: client has temporary disability and cannot drive, or if client is at risk due to COVID, they can be considered “disabled” and not forced to take transit**

COVID-19 Vaccine: Volunteer Services provides rides to receive a Covid-19 Vaccine. Client must be going to an appointment at a vaccination site or a drive thru site. Volunteers drivers are able to wait in long lines or drive thru vaccination sites with the client. Volunteer Services will need the data and time of the appointment, the location, and if it is a drive thru or an appointment at a facility.
Medical Appointment: Volunteer Services provides rides to medical appointments, including Dental, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Eyeglass, etc. Any appointment that is not Medicaid covered. *Possible exceptions to Medicaid Appointments: Client denied Paratransit/not receiving any other transportation. Will need explanation notated.
Dialysis: Volunteer Services can serve as a supplemental transportation option for trips to and from dialysis. These trips will need prior notice to ensure driver availability.
Medical Appointments involving Sedation: Volunteer Services can provide a ride to a client who has been under sedation and is accompanied by an attendant. The attendant must take on the liability for the client and be the one to accompany the client to the appointment. Drivers are not allowed to attend an appointment or procedure with a client.
Picking up Prescriptions: Volunteer will take clients to pharmacies.
Grocery Shopping and Food Banks: Volunteers will take clients to grocery stores and food banks. Volunteers may provide contactless grocery shopping/food bank pick up if requested, but not guaranteed. Dependent upon driver availability. (Notate if clients are currently signed up and actively going to a particular food bank).
Pet Care Appointment: Animal in a carrier the whole time unless it’s a service animal.
General Errands/Community Functions: Church, YMCA, Senior Centers, Meal Sites, Bank, Stores,
Types of Ride Services EXPANDED due to Covid-19:
Medical Appointments for Dialysis: Volunteer Services can serve as a supplemental transportation option for trips to and from dialysis. These trips will need prior notice to ensure driver availability.
***Everyone who qualifies for Volunteer Services is encouraged to apply in any case. Volunteer Services will be able to determine what they can do after receiving the intake from United Way of Pierce County and having a discussion with the client.
Connector Routes offered at Pierce County Human Services Beyond the Borders
Provides two fixed routes in the Beyond the Borders Service area. See details for more information. Call United Way of Pierce County to be screened.
Provides two deviated fixed routes in the Beyond the Borders Service area.
Deviations up to 1 mile off the fixed route may be available, depending on the rider's situation.
Dispatch will make the determination if a deviation from the route is possible.
Routes run from Spanaway to South Hill and a Sumner to Bonney Lake Connector Monday through Friday.
Connections to Sound Transit and Pierce Transit bus service at each end of the routes.
Those who are disabled are also encouraged to apply for Pierce Transit's SHUTTLE for the Disabled.
