Is responsible for long-range planning programs and land use and building permit services.   Ensures that the natural and built environments are healthy, safe, and reflect the community's vision by providing exceptional customer service, listening to our customers and proactively solving problems.

Provides sewer, storm drainage, and street maintenance; protects the city’s streams and wetlands; and oversees planning and development within city limits. Issues all permits for business, land use, and building within the city.

Provides a wide range of community development services in unincorporated Yakima County related to subdivision, zoning, environmental, long-range comprehensive planning, special projects, intergovernmental coordination, grants, and public involvement. Responsible for administering multiple sections of the Yakima County Code (YCC) and for preparing or coordinating amendments or drafting new codes in order to meet the County's land development responsibilities under State law. The Planning Division is the County's lead agency for conducting environmental review (SEPA) and for ensuring compliance with Growth Management Act requirements. Also provides technical support to the Hearing Examiner, Board of Commissioners, task groups and other agencies. The Planning Division is organized into four sections: 1. Environmental and Natural Resources Section: Develops, updates, and maintains Critical Areas, Shoreline, and SEPA regulations, processed critical areas and shoreline permits, conducts SEPA reviews. 2. Subdivision and Zoning Section: Develops, updates, and maintains subdivision and zoning codes, and processes subdivision and zoning applications. 3. Long Range Planning Section: Develops, updates, and maintains Yakima County Comprehensive Plan, coordinates citizen participation, develops neighborhood plans, conducts special studies, prepares Community Development Block Grants, processes comprehensive plan amendments. 4. Development Services Coordination Section: Provides department-wide coordination of major land use development projects.

Provides basic city services for Town of Beaux Arts Village residents.   Mayor-Council is the form of government for this town.   The Planning Commission assists the Town Council in land use and zoning issues.   Meeting notices are posted on the town mailboxes and bulletin boards so residents may see agenda and meeting locations. Shoreline use permits are required.   Contracts with Bellevue Fire Department and King County Sheriff's Office (Beaux Arts Village Precinct No. 3) to provide additional services

Provides basic government services, such as pet licenses, permits, planning, street maintenance and utilities.   Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the city’s water, sewer and storm drainage systems as well as street and park maintenance.   Building permit requirements and applications are listed on the city's website.

Inspects permitted projects for compliance with the approved plans, permit conditions and construction standards.  Also, issues permits (for incorporated areas of Snohomish County) which authorize cutting and filling, excavation, earth importation and other techniques, to create a level building pad for construction purposes, as specified in an approved grading plan which has been found to comply with the state environmental act and the county policy code.

Provides municipal government services, including the mayor and town council, a planning commission and permit services.   Police services are provided by the Medina Police Department. A request for a vacation housewatch by the Medina Police Department may be made on the website.   The housewatch does not include pick-up of mail, packages or newspaper. Provides municipal services for city of Kenmore customers, including public safety, public works, land use, drainage, roads and permits. The City of Kenmore contracts with King County for police services.
