Treats the trauma of sexual or child physical abuse through -  Trauma-specific counseling -  Parent education program -  Parent-Child Interaction Training.   The main goals of treatment are symptom reduction and trauma integration.  Trauma is the primary focus, and may also encompass treating not only symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety, but also other related issues resulting from the abuse.   Most clients complete therapy in an average of 16-20 sessions.

Offers an intensive treatment program that works with parents and children together to improve the quality of the parent-child relationship and to teach parents the skills necessary to manage their child's severe behavior problems.

Provides child and family counseling for youth, ages birth through 24. Can provide services at many area schools and in the community, as well as at any Akin site. Common issues are depression, school behavior problems, and family conflicts.

Provides mental health services for children ages 3-10 and their caregivers experiencing challenging behavior or relationship struggles. Evidence-based treatments give equal attention to enhancing the parent-child relationship and to parental skill-building in behavior management. Therapies may target the following issues: - Parent-child relational problems - Refusal or defiance of adult requests - Easy loss of temper - Intentional annoyance of others - Destruction of property - Difficulty staying seated - Difficulty playing quietly - Difficulty taking turns Can help parents support their children struggling with self-esteem issues, anxiety, poor emotional regulation, aggressive and disruptive behaviors in school and other adjustment and connection concerns.
