Refugee Resettlement offered by Diocese of Olympia's Refugee Resettlement Office
Assesses the needs of each refugee and provides advocacy with other service agencies. Includes long-term follow-up.
The Refugee Resettlement program is an essential part of helping refugees adjust to living in the Seattle area. A variety of services are offered through this program.
As part of the resettlement process, provides all newly arrived refugees with the following services:
- Airport Reception
- Cultural Orientation
- Furnishing the Apartment
- Food and Clothing
- Medical Screening
- School Enrollment
- English Classes
- Employment Search Assistance
Elementary After-School Program offered by Refugee Women's Alliance at Maple Elementary
Provides academic support for Somali and Spanish speaking elementary students and their families attending Kimball or Maple Elementary School.
Provides academic support for Somali and Spanish speaking families and their elementary students at Kimball Elementary and Maple Elementary School.
Twice a week, students receive academic support and literacy instruction from trained professionals and skilled volunteers.
Families of the students work with culturally-specific case managers to learn about the American school system and best practices for supporting their students.
African Immigrant and Refugee Community Outreach offered at Southeast Youth & Family Services
Provides individual and family counseling, advocacy, case management and crisis intervention services to African immigrants.
Provides the following to African immigrant and refugee individuals and families:
- Individual and family counseling
- Case management
- Advocacy
- Information and referral
- Crisis intervention
Also offers employment assistance for African youth as well as cultural adjustment and orientation.
Refugee Reception and Placement Program offered by Lutheran Community Services Northwest at Portland Office
Provides assistance to newly arrived refugees.
Provides assistance to newly arrived refugees. Sponsors arrange for accommodations for arriving refugees. Case managers assist refugees with processing paperwork, getting government assistance, starting employment programs, attending ESL classes, and generally finding solutions to problems that arise in the resettlement process.

Offers free and confidential information, direct assistance and advocacy to individuals and families who speak Russian or Chinese languages and have limited English language skills.
Offers free and confidential information, direct assistance and advocacy to individuals and families who speak Russian or Chinese languages and have limited English language skills. Helps people to navigate systems, find resources, learn about programs and connect to their community. Services include, but are not limited to the following:
- Help with basic needs such as health care, food stamp, housing, financial security benefits, transportation, etc.
- Sign up ESL and assistance in naturalization application
- Assistance with children’s school issues
- Signing up for social and recreational activities
- Child care resources and school system
– Informational and educational workshops
All services provided are confidential.
English Language Training offered at Refugee and Immigrant Services Northwest
Provides assessment and pre-testing of English language skills.

Assists immigrants/refugees with the following services; immigration counseling, advocacy, photo service, elderly services, employment projects for newly arrived refugees, social service referral, and ESL for refugees.
