Provides information and referral, in addition to written material, on various forms of adoption; facilitates independent adoptions.

Assistance provided in processing petitions for an order accessing a sealed adoption file.
Non-identifying file information may only be provided to adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents upon request.
If identifying information is requested, or a reunion is sought, referral to Confidential Intermediary services is available.
The types of adoption packets available for purchase are:
- Step-parent consenting birth parent
- Step-parent non-consenting birth parent (unknown and/or unknown whereabouts)
- Adult
- International (re-adoption)
- Independent/In-Home Relative (non-agency)
Facilitation appointments are scheduled for self-represented parties who require further assistance with the guidelines for procedure, provided with their adoption packet of forms.
Family Court Services adoption social workers confirm the consent of any relinquishing birth parents before the final court hearing.
If an adoption is contested, or answers to legal questions are sought, parties may independently search for an attorney as adoption services does not offer legal advice or recommend specific attorneys.

Adoptive Parent/Child Search offered at Washington Adoption Reunion Movement
Offers support finding birth parents and adoptees; ongoing support contacts for adoptees, birthparents and adoptive parents.
Maintains a free registry for all adults seeking reunion with family members who were separated in the past.
Referrals are made to the International Soundex Reunion Registry.
Area support contacts available throughout Washington state.
Search Process:
- Offers non-court search/reunion conducted with identifying information that has been provided by the client.
- A confidential intermediary is available.
- The court appoints a Washington Adoption Reunion Movement (WARM) volunteer intermediary under an oath of confidentiality, and the adoption files are opened to them.
- The confidential intermediary then conducts the search.
- When the relative has been located, they must obtain a signed consent form for the parties to be reunited.
- DNA analysis is available.
- If they are unable to get a signed consent form, the files are again closed.
- These procedures are detailed in a law passed by the Washington State Legislature (July, 1990).
