Mason County Veterans Relief and Assistance Fund offered at Veterans Service Office - Mason County
Assists veterans in applying for county funds. Provides forms, screens for eligibility, and assists in making sure all forms are filled out properly and sent to the Mason County Commissioners.
This fund may be disbursed to indigent veterans and their families or the families of those deceased in the amount not to exceed $1,200.00 per applicant per calendar year, not to exceed two years, unless the indigent veteran qualifies for additional funds. After one year of waiting, the veteran may reapply for further assistance with proof of eligibility. (Exceptions are burial and catastrophic expenses) Approval granted only for the following:
1. Past Due Rent or Mortgage
2. Past Due Utilities; electric, water or Natural Gas
3. Needed Food Items
4. Needed Fire Wood or Propane

Assistance is provided to veterans and their families in accordance with eligibility requirements by connecting them to the benefits and services they earned. This includes access to relief funds and free access to an Accredited Service Officer to help them apply for: claims, benefits, appeals, and upgrades; pension funds (as eligible); veteran's affairs benefits; veteran's affairs healthcare; and local relief funds.
