Participants rotate through work centers which may include a variety of work that is performed sitting or standing. Participants gain information on attendance and punctuality, motivation, communication, getting along with others, ability to accept feedback, ability to take responsibility, work ethic, ability to retain instructions, work quality, productivity, and personal appearance. Participants will be connected to a mentor and counselor to assist them through the progression of their training. Participants are paid minimum wage while in training. Specialists will assist participants with job placement and continue follow-up for three months after training has ended.

Provides employability assessments, GED classes, career counseling, classroom and work-site training, job search preparation, matching, and placement services, and internship opportunities. Also provides contracted services for vocational rehabilitation and training programs for individuals transitioning from welfare to work.

Offers a temporary job skills training and placement program for vocationally impaired people and people with disabilities.   Hires associates to work in its facilities, and offers a variety of training opportunities by partnering with local businesses.   After completing the program, clients may be eligible for further training and education opportunities.

Helps workers injured on the job return to work. Reimburses employers for some of their costs if they can provide temporary light-duty jobs for injured workers while they heal. Provides a vocational counselor to help identify return to work options, including job modifications. If no return-to-work options are appropriate, the counselor will help develop a vocational plan to train the worker for new work. The vocational plan will include paid vocational training as well as time-loss compensation and medical benefits.

Offers support services for adults living with mental illness. Offers pre-employment day program where members work side-by-side with staff to develop work skills, self-confidence, strengths and talents. Technology and equipment is available for members to learn and work on. Provides a commercial kitchen where members prepare meals available to members and staff for a small fee. Members can also apply for employment in the community through the programs of HERO House NW. There are three different programs of employment including: -Transitional Employment Program (part-time, time-limited for members just entering or returning to paid employment; includes on-site support, training and coverage) -Supported Employment Program (time unlimited, paid positions in the community with on-site supports and training provided by HERO House NW. -Independent Employment Program (where members work in competitive positions independently of HERO House NW) and HERO House NW employment supports. HERO House NW Programs also provides an extensive social program where members join together for picnics, bingo, museum tours, festivals, sports and games.

Washington State Department of Services for the Blind (DSB) works with individuals who are Blind, Deaf-Blind, or Low Vision so they can flourish in their homes, communities, and workplaces. DSB provides skills, training, and support to people of all ages to help them achieve educational, employment, or independent living goals. If you have a vision impairment that makes employment hard for you, you may be eligible for services to help you prepare for, obtain, maintain or advance in a job. Advocates for the rights and needs of people who are deaf-blind.   Provides information and referral regarding deaf-blindness.   Links individuals who are deaf-blind with local skill-oriented and vocational rehabilitation services.   Provides consultation and other services to consumers, parents and service providers.   Determines eligibility for services at the Helen Keller National Center in New York.
