Provides free employment and training to workers ages 55 and older. Places eligible participants in temporary community service assignments at local nonprofits or government agencies.
Provides both community service and work-based training to eligible older workers. Job seekers are placed in a wide variety of community service activities at nonprofit and public facilities like food banks, senior centers, thrift stores and shelters.
They train an average of 18-20 hours a week and are paid the highest of federal, state or local minimum wage This short-term on-the-job training experience can then be used as a bridge to find employment opportunities outside of the program.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a program to help low-income, unemployed individuals 55 and older find work. SCSEP matches eligible older adults with part-time training assignments at non-profits or government agencies. Participants build skills and self-confidence, while earning a modest income with a goal of transitioning seniors into non-subsidized employment.
Administered by the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, it’s the nation’s oldest employment program for seniors. Individuals accepted into the program are assigned job training placements at Host Agencies in the community (usually a community based non-profit service organization) based on the individual’s preference and employment goals developed from their IEP (Individual Employment Plan).
Participants enrolled in the program are eligible to enroll and complete the Career Readiness Education and Development (CRED) and other Goodwill and/or programs as a partner with the local Work-Force Development Council(s).
Senior Environmental Employment Program offered at National Asian Pacific Center on Aging
Hires adults, ages 55 and older, to work in temporary assignments at environmental agencies.
Hires older skilled adults to work in temporary assignments at the Environmental Protection Agency offices and various regional, federal or state offices.
Positions range from clerical through specific technical responsibilities.
Applicants must meet age requirements and position qualifications.

Programs include: GED instruction and support, work skills training, digital literacy certification, financial literacy and second chance banking, computer skills training, and work-based learning. Services include internships, work evaluation placement, individual support employment for people with disabilities, and a senior employment program.

Provides a job-training program through the Department of Labor for low-income adults ages 55 and older who are interested on re-entering the workforce.
Provides temporary, subsidized, and part-time paid community training opportunities in the following areas: office and administrative support, retail skills, maintenance and janitorial, computer skills, and social & health services.

Provides temporary, part-time, on-site training for low income Asian and Pacific Islander residents, ages 55 and older; participants are paid the local, state or federal minimum wage, whichever is higher

Participants are paid minimum wage during training period with the goal of achieving un-subsidized, full-time employment.
