The First Year and Career Services offer career exploration and advising to Seattle Central students. We can help: - Explore career opportunities, interests, and academic pathways to get there. - Provide academic guidance to first year and undecided students on class selection and potential areas of study. - Develop resume and cover letter writing skills, & prepare for interviews. - Discuss networking, job search methods, and scholarship resources.

Placement specialist assists clients in job placement. Follow-up continues for at least three months.

An online resource for foster and former foster youth to access programs that help provide various services.

Participants referred for this service may need assistance in resume building, interviewing techniques and job development activities. Based on the vocational goal of the participant, professional job developers set up job searching and development activities. These include identifying which employers to contact, securing applications and other position related materials, arranging for informational interviews, and making labor market assessments. The participant is expected to take an active role in the process. Once a position is secured and the job offer accepted, skilled job coaches are available to assist in the initial, intensive training on the job. Retention services are also provided for 90 days following placement. These services focus on insuring that both the employee and employer are satisfied with the job and that expectations are being met.  If needed, training is also provided to facilitate co-worker support for the new employee. Even after the 90-day retention period, if the need arises for specific training or support, staff remains available to meet those needs.

Focus is on making sure Navy Service Members have the knowledge they need to ensure a smooth transition from their military career to a civilian career.

Provides employment and training support to job seekers and businesses. Assists business with recruitment, hosting employee training, labor market information, and finding candidates for openings. - Economic Security for All (EcSA) serves families by building a partnership around the four pillars of support: transportation, healthcare, childcare, and employment. - Unemployment Information: Provide computer and telephone access to apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits. Customers may call the UI hotline at (800)318.6022 or log into eServices at esd.wa.gov/unemployment. (Online application, weekly filing, and submission of documents is encouraged to expedite the process.)

Helps participants to fully understand the hiring process including how to: - Effectively network - Convey personal strengths in resume writing - Develop strong interviewing skills - Advance technical/online skills and database of resources (i.e. LinkedIn) These skills are developed through: - Guest speakers with expertise in a wide variety of vocations - Group discussion and relationships - Access to counselors that can provide well-being support during unemployment

The program focuses on overcoming employment barriers and building essential skills, including: • Cognitive Thinking Transformation: Changing thought patterns to improve decision-making and problem-solving. • Professional Communication: Learning how to communicate effectively in the workplace. • Conflict Resolution: Strategies for handling disagreements in a productive way. • Time Management: Tips for organizing your time and staying on track. • Job Search Techniques: How to find job opportunities and apply for them successfully. • Targeted Resume Building: Creating a resume that highlights your strengths. • Interviewing Techniques: Preparing to present yourself confidently in job interviews. • Handling Management Styles: Adapting to different leadership approaches in the workplace. • Computer Skills: Basic skills needed for today’s job market.

The Hub provides the ability to research employers, industries and labor market trends, utilize career software to assess your skills and interests, create and update resumes and cover letters, and post your resume online. Provides employment related assistance to Businesses, Veterans and other eligible persons. Services includes but are not limited to; job development, business relations, job counseling, job search assistance, job referral and placement. Veteran staff regularly advise groups in the community, including employers, labor unions and veterans' organizations, of Veterans eligible for employment, as well as connecting Veterans to job openings.
