The goal of the center is to provide career assistance to Western Washington University students and alumni as well as members of the local community. The Center also seeks to develop and maintain positive relationships with employers in the University's service area.

Provides work clothing and employment support services. Work-Ready Clothing: Interview and work-ready clothing to help individuals transition into the workforce. Clients receive five pieces of work-ready clothing plus shoes, a coat, and accessories when they have a job interview, and five additional pieces of clothing when they get a job. Job Preparation: Provides free job preparation classes for job seekers called Fast Track. Classes are currently online only. The regular cycle of four classes repeats monthly January-November. Additional services are available once Fast Track is completed. Employment Retention: The Professional Women's Group (PWG) is a free ongoing group providing the opportunity for individuals to virtually meet with working women. Includes presentations and workshops to support life and career. The PWG meets regularly for programming with speakers from the community. Examples of program themes include financial education and planning, career development, the written and unwritten rules of the workplace, health and wellness, communication, and leadership skills.

Offers individual job search assistance and job preparedness workshops. A computer laboratory and resource room are available for job searching and career planning activities.  Announcement of jobs within the state of Washington can be obtained at any WorkSource Center, Affiliate or online. Provides ten weeks of construction training including classroom instruction, hands-on experience, certifications, and site visits to apprenticeship training centers.

Administers the Jobs for Veteran State Grant program, a nationwide program designed to provide assistance to veterans transitioning from one career to another. Provides counseling, resources, employment connections, community partnership advocacy and virtual tools to assist in meeting the veterans’ preferred transitional career goals. Gives veterans and their spouses priority access to WorkSource services, including the following: -  Job listings, job referrals and hiring events for private sector, city, state and Federal careers -  Job coaching for resume, application perfecting, strategies for success, wage negotiations and interviewing assistance -  Use of computers, photocopiers and phones onsite -  Skill assessments and referrals to training and other resources   In addition, the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program provides intensive case management and employment readiness services to transitioning service members, veterans and qualifying spouses with significant barriers to employment.   Local Veterans Employment Representatives Conduct outreach to employers to promote the recruitment and hiring of veterans; partner with Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Commerce to implement employer campaigns to hire veterans and inform federal contractors on process and requirements for recruitment of veterans.

Offers a youth education and employment & training program for youth 16-24 years of age. Assists low-income, out-of-school youth in improving academic performance, high school or GED completion, and career exploration.

Provides housing stabilization assistance for single-parent families and pregnant women who are in imminent danger of becoming homeless and who live in Maple Valley and cities within a nine-mile radius.   Provides the following services as the family grows to stability:   -  Rent assistance -  Housing case management -  Employment services -  Financial budgeting -  Life skills classes -  Child and youth case management -  Counseling

A community hub where individuals and parents with children can attend programs and workshops, access community resources, connect with others, and receive information and referrals. Services vary by location but may include use of the phone, use of the fax, access to applications for subsidized apartments, and use of the computer work stations. Clients are not able to use the resource center as a mailing address.

Offers comprehensive job placement and retention services, including:   -  Vocational English As a Second Language (ESL) classes -  20 hours of job readiness instruction -  Job search assistance -  Short-term skills training opportunities and career counseling -  Case management -  Retention services   Services meet language and workforce needs of local employers and cultural needs of job seekers.

Provides a wide range of employment and training counseling and services for youth, adults, and dislocated workers; including training, education, and support they may need to pursue their career and succeed in the workforce. Programs: - Basic Food Employment and Training (BFET): Training services provide resume writing, interview skills, assistance with starting a career, and job search assistance, BFET provides employment readiness opportunities to Basic Food (SNAP) recipients who are not receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). - Dislocated Worker (WIOA): Services include career transition counseling, tuition assistance, paid business internships, and on the job training. Workers must be laid off due to no fault of their own and eligible for UI (company closure, downsize, skill no longer in demand, etc.). Special funding and programming is available for those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. - Low-Income Adult Services: Provides employment and training services to low-income adults ages 18-72, with a priority to veterans, TANF recipients, those who do not have a HS diploma or GED, and those who are not financially self-sufficient. Services include career exploration, tuition assistance, paid on the job training and internships, emergency support and ongoing counseling through job retention. - Youth Services: Offers paid job & career training, educational assistance, (GED, HS Diploma, Post-Secondary), certification & credential options, job search assistance, tuition assistance, paid work experience for youth 16-24 yrs of age, and are a WA State ID holder & resident. The goal is to help youth identify a career pathway and gain the skills they need to be successful in that pathway. - WorkFirst: Provides parents the opportunity to gain job skills and experience through a variety of work readiness programs, such as the Community Jobs (CJ) and Career Jump. - Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy, and Training (QUEST): connects individuals most affected by the pandemic—– women, tribal members, people of color, people with disabilities, even lower-wage workers—to quality training and employment. Responsible for the administration of Employment and Community Access services for adults with developmental disabilities. Through partnerships with Employment Service Vendors, participants are supported in achieving community employment that offers competitive wages, an integrated work environment, and the opportunity for independence on the job.
