Programs that are staffed by physicians who provide continuing comprehensive care for common and complex multisystem illnesses in ambulatory care as well as hospital settings. General internists often function as primary care physicians who are the patient's initial point of contact with the health care system and who assume ongoing responsibility for maintaining the health of their patients and for providing treatment in case of illness including consultation with specialists when required.

General Internist Services

Programs that are staffed by specialists in the field of medicine that is concerned with the total health of the individual within the home environment and in the community.  Practitioners of family and community medicine provide comprehensive medical care including preventive services with particular emphasis on the family unit, in which the physician's continuing responsibility for health care is not limited by the patient's age or gender, nor by a particular organ system or disease entity.

Family and Community Medicine

Programs that are staffed by specialists who provide comprehensive preventive, diagnostic and treatment services including surgery for individuals who have diseases or injuries that affect the head and neck including the ears, the respiratory and upper alimentary systems, the face, the jaws and related structures.

Otolaryngology

Programs that are staffed by specialists who provide diagnostic and treatment services for individuals from infancy through young adulthood with ear, nose and throat disorders or other conditions affecting the head and neck. Included may be treatment for airway disorders; congenital malformations of the ear, nose and throat; chronic ear problems; hearing loss; nasal obstruction; nasal or sinus masses; neck masses; branchial cleft anomalies; speech and swallowing disorders; tonsil and adenoid diseases;  trauma; and other similar conditions.

Pediatric Otolaryngology

Physical examinations that are used to screen athletes to ensure that it is safe for them to participate in a particular sport. Athletic screenings can identify abnormalities such as heart disease, respiratory illnesses (e.g., asthma), musculoskeletal disorders, prior history of trauma to knees and shoulders, concussion history, and weight training/overtraining; and help reduce associated risks with organized sports or athletics. The goals of the exam are to evaluate the athlete's overall health status; assess his or her size, developmental maturation and present fitness level; evaluate existing injuries; and detect congenital anomalies or other conditions that may put the athlete at increased risk of injury or sudden death while playing sports.

Sports Participation Physical Examinations

Provides prevention, detection, and treatment of adult diseases. Internists are trained to be a Primary Care Physician and they offer: annual exams; prescriptions for preventive medicine; help with managing your medication; help with monitoring diabetes, hypertension, and lipids. Helps manage: chronic conditions; substance abuse; mental health challenges; common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, reproductive organs; and end-of-life care.

Internal Medicine offered by Lourdes Health at 14th Avenue Medical Plaza

Provides prevention, detection, and treatment of adult diseases.

Routine health care provided by internists, pediatricians, family medicine specialists, gynecologists, obstetricians, nurse practitioners, midwives, physicians' assistants or other health care providers who serve as the first point of contact with the health care system. Services focus on the prevention and early detection of health problems through regular physical examinations, blood pressure checks, mammograms and other similar procedures as well as therapeutic services for people who do not require specialty care.
