Contracts with agencies in the community to provide services for residents of Whatcom County with developmental disabilities and their families. Child Development Services: Supports infants and toddlers with disabilities and delays and their families to maximize and enhance their child’s development. Services are provided in home and community settings. School to Work program: Connects students with adult supported employment providers while they are still in school to assist students to explore and obtain gainful employment and ensure a timely and effective transition from school to work and adult life. Supported Employment Services: Helps adults with developmental disabilities to find and keep a job, regardless of their disability. Community Inclusion: Supports adults with developmental disabilities to engage in community-based activities that support socialization, education, recreation and personal development.

Maternal Health Services provides community-based programs and services focused on providing preventive health and education for growing families throughout Central Washington. With a staff dedicated to giving families a healthy, hopeful start in life, Maternal Health Services offers programs in genetic counseling, maternity support services, maternal child health home visiting and coordination of regional perinatal improvement programs. Women at risk of premature delivery may need prenatal education in their homes, while others may want to learn how to enhance their child's early development. For those who need assistance with nutrition, a WIC (women, infants and children) program is located adjacent to the Maternal Health Services office. By giving women the information and support they need to make healthy choices, Maternal Health Services strives to promote healthy babies and strong families. Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and management plans for children from birth to adolescence with or at risk for neurodevelopmental disabilities. The interdisciplinary team includes professionals from audiology, developmental/behavioral pediatrics, nursing, nutrition, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, and speech and language pathology. They work collaboratively to assess each child's health and development, offering recommendations and connecting families with appropriate community resources.

Offers neurodevelopmental evaluations with a trauma-informed team. They gather information from parents and assess development across the following 5 developmental areas: -  Cognitive -  Communication -  Social/Emotional -  Physical -  Self-Help/Adaptive Evaluator can come to the family for the evaluation, whether in a community room or wherever the family is staying.

Facilitates play-centered classes for toddlers and their parents based on developmentally appropriate activities that stimulate brain development. Developmental screenings are available. Integrates infants and toddlers with disabilities. Classes are available at other community locations as well as the Early Learning Center.

Provides services to children from birth through age 12 with developmental delays, disabilities, and prenatal substance exposure. Helps children meet healthy developmental milestones. Direct service providers are uniquely trained to provide trauma- and FASD-informed care. Supplemental programs include free Play & Learn Groups for children of all abilities, 0-5 years.

Offers developmental evaluations to parents who have concerns about a child's development. Evaluations are completed by trained professionals and consider a child's speech, social behaviors, attention span, play, self-care, vision, hearing and overall behavior. Comprehensive developmental evaluations are available for children ages birth-6. For children under age 3, there are no out-of-pocket expense to determine eligibility for the early support program.

Provides early intervention services for children birth to 35 months of age with either 1) a developmental delay, or 2) a diagnosis that is likely to result in a developmental delay. Services are provided in: College Place, Columbia-Burbank, Dayton, Dixie, Kiona-Benton City, Prescott, Prosser, Richland, Starbuck, Touchet, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla. Early intervention team members who support the family may include the following: Family Resource Coordinator (FRC), Birth to Three Teacher, Early Intervention Specialist, Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), Physical Therapist (PT), Autism Specialist, Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), and/or Teacher of the Deaf (TOD).

Offers a free program for children, ages birth through 18, who have or are at-risk of a chronic medical condition or special health care need. The program helps families access needed medical and social services for their child, connects families to health insurance programs & information (both private insurance & the state-funded Medicaid program), helps families help each other through parent support organizations, helps with concerns (such as feeding, nutrition, growth, development, and behavior), and provides developmental screening and assessment.

A public health nurse is able to provide referrals and coordination of services for children with special health care needs such as asthma, cleft lip and palate, and speech or language delays. The public health nurse can assess a child's needs, make referrals, and work with agencies to help.  Services may be accessed by telephone or a home visit.

Offers screenings throughout the year to help identify children birth to 3 years old who may need special services. Special services can include occupational, physical and/or speech therapies, or a specialized early childhood program. Screenings will not show conclusively that a child has special needs, but it will indicate if he or she may need further assessment.

Works to assure citizens with developmental disabilities in Jefferson County have the choice, opportunity and support to achieve full, active, and productive participation in community life.

Offers tribal and non-tribal members a comprehensive program that provides children and families with information and access to education, health, mental, nutrition, family goal setting, prenatal education and resources.  Children are provided with developmental screenings in the areas of education, sensory, vision, hearing and disabilities.   Children with a suspected or diagnosed developmental delay are referred to the Port Angeles School District for further evaluation or services. Participants receive initial dental services, and parents/caregivers are offered services in child development, health education, advocacy, and, through a cooperative agreement with Peninsula College, each parent attending (Family Nights) can sign up for two credits per quarter that can be used as electives for those pursuing degrees.

Offers a wide range of services including primary care, well-child visits and developmental screenings, confidential teen services, and mental health services. Many services are available via telehealth. Pediatric team provides trauma informed care and ensures timely access to care for children in foster and kinship care. Specialty services are also available through the Pediatric Clinic, including dental screenings, head injury follow-up care, and access to the Foster Care Consultation Clinic.

Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) is the Washington State Department of Early Learning program designed to be the first point of contact for any parents concerned about the development of their children. ESIT offers free developmental screenings for infants and toddlers along with an informational meeting for parents with a Family Resources Coordinator. Once a child is screened, a Family Resources Coordinator helps each family access the Early Intervention services through a referral system and provides each family with additional community resources for support.

The Tribe operates the Jamestown Family Health Clinic in the City of Sequim to provide primary health care services to Tribal citizens and non tribal community members seeking quality care. The medical providers at the clinic have a number of specialties including preventative care for all ages, disease management for chronic medical conditions, women's health issues, family planning, and can refer to specialists as needed.

Parent Child Health supports families in Kitsap with multiple programs. Our staff is available to provide referrals and guidance to all pregnant and parenting families in the county in multiple languages. A free, personal nurse for first time, low income mothers. New mothers receive support, education and valuable resources to be the best parent they can be.

Provides development and health status assessment, resource coordination, and referrals for children with special needs.

The Early Childhood Services at OlyCAP are focused on addressing the needs of families with children age five and younger.  Preschool, early childhood development, child care and family support services are offered at sites throughout Clallam and Jefferson counties.  Children enrolled receive a developmental screening, an individualized learning plan, at least two meals each day and an active learning experience on days they attend the center.  In addition to children services, each family enrolled receives support in accessing medical and dental care for their child, parenting education, home visits and help with finding needed services or resources in the community. Head Start/Early Head Start Head Start and Early Head Start programs promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.  The program strives to engage parents in their children’s leaning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals.  Additionally, the Early Head Start program promotes healthy prenatal outcomes, promotes healthy family functioning, and strengthens the development of infants and toddlers. Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program is a whole-child, family-focused pre-school program designed to help low-income and at-risk children and their families succeed in school and life.  Because of the many factors that affect a child’s learning ability and development, ECEAP has four interactive components.  They are: learning in a pre-school setting, health screening and assistance with follow-up medical and dental care, healthy snacks and meals, and family support including help accessing resources and social service.
