Investigates notifiable conditions and responds to communicable disease outbreaks occurring in the community. Educates the population at the local level (WAC 246-101). Prevents the spread of tuberculosis and other communicable diseases is accomplished through providing education and information to individuals or group settings, tracking disease cases and contacts, and recommending or providing preventive treatment. Certain conditions, called notifiable conditions, must be reported to the Health District by health care providers, laboratories, and other health related organizations in accordance with the Revised Code of Washington.

Communicable disease nurses provide help finding communicable disease testing (Including HIV, STDs, and TB), treatments, and assistance notifying individuals who have been exposed to HIV, STDs and TB about their risk and the need to get tested.

Provides confidential services for at-risk people of all genders.  Services include diagnosis, treatment, prevention, education, PrEP and partner referrals. HIV/AIDS program includes anonymous and confidential testing and counseling.

Offers information on communicable disease control for healthcare providers, long-term care/assisted living facilities, the community, schools and child care centers, and prevention programs.
