Offers free self-help packets designed for those who need explanative information regarding SSI/SSDI overpayment, continuing disability review (CDR), and age 18 redetermination.

Assists pro se litigants regarding legal domestic matters. Will explain how the court works; provide dissolution, child support modification, and parenting plan/custody modification forms packets; provide guidance in filling out forms; check completed paperwork; help schedule court hearings; and assist clients in obtaining an interpreter or other special services needed for court.

Operates several advice clinics at a variety of locations and times (including evenings), makes referrals to volunteer attorneys and provides public information for low-income clients. Volunteer Legal Services has attorneys on staff and can provide limited emergency services depending on the client's legal issue. Clients are encouraged to call or come by for legal assistance and referrals to other organizations. Current clinic times and locations are available online and appointments are required for some clinics (check website for clinic times and details). Areas of assistance can include: - Family Law - Landlord/Tenant - Foreclosure - Consumer and Business - Bankruptcy - Vacation of Criminal Records - Reinstatement of Drivers License - Veteran Assistance - Wills, Probate, Guardianship and Power of Attorney. Also serves as a referral partner with the Federal Civil Rights Clinic. Will direct clients to the clinic for intake, appointments, and follow up.

Assists people with cases in the following areas: Non-contested marriage dissolutions (divorces that are agreed or in which the other party will not respond) Establishment of a parenting plan and child support in non-contested cases when the father has already been determined The SHP Program completes all of the legal paperwork, so clients are relieved of the pressure of having to complete documents on their own. We are here to instruct clients about the legal process, inform clients of their rights and responsibilities, and to assist with the paperwork. We are available throughout the legal process to address any questions or concerns about the court process.

Services provided through the Thurston County Clerk's Office, offering the assistance by the Family Court Facilitator to assist individuals choosing to represent themselves in Court without an attorney. This Facilitator is available to aid with processing paperwork, understanding procedures and scheduling Court hearings. The Family Court Facilitator can: - Explain Court protocol. - Assist in identifying and selecting forms for family law cases only. - Assist in scheduling hearings. - Check paperwork for completeness prior to court. - Arrange for interpretor or other special services for court appearances. - Refer to other agencies for special needs or legal advice. The Family Court Facilitator can NOT: - Meet with anyone represented by an attorney - Give legal advice. - Represent party in court. - Complete the forms for any party. - Tell any party what to say. - Provide assistance in any other case types. - Verify the accuracy of information provided. - Answer questions about the meaning or effect of forms or terms thereof. - Establish an attorney-client relationship or provide legal representation.
