This program helps offset the impact of the City’s utility tax on telephone (not including cellular), cable television, and gas/electricity provided by Puget Sound Energy and solid waste and garbage provided by Recology CleanScapes.
Electricity, gas, solid waste and garbage:
- On behalf of eligible applicants, the city of Burien will contact Puget Sound Energy and Recology CleanScapes and have them take the utility tax charge off future bills.
- Adjustments are not retroactive.
This tax relief is for the following year.
Telephone (not including cellular) and cable television:
- Utility tax relief is available in the form of a reimbursement for taxes paid for a single residential telephone landline and for basic cable television services only.
- Applications for this reimbursement cover taxes previously paid for the year.
