National railway provides service to 37 cities in Washington through short and long-distance train routes. Offers discount fares for seniors, active military, NARP members and passengers with disabilities. Children ride free with paying adult.
National train service operates one short distance train, The Cascades, (4 daily round trip trains between Portland and Seattle; 2 daily round trip trains between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, Canada, and 2 daily round trip trains between Eugene and Portland)
Also operates two long-distance trains: The Coast Starlight (daily between Los Angeles-Portland-Seattle) and The Empire Builder (daily Chicago-Minneapolis-Spokane-Seattle/Portland).
Amtrak passengers can use Greyhound to make connections to cities not served by rail on Amtrak Thruway service, by purchasing a ticket for the bus connection from Amtrak in conjunction with the purchase of their rail ticket.
If passengers desire, they may also buy a bus ticket directly from Greyhound.
