Adult Homesharing Program (AHS) offered by Associated Ministries
Adult Homesharing Program (AHS) offered by Associated Ministries
Promotes safety and compatibility while supporting a mutually beneficial relationship between Home Provider and Home Seeker. Matches people who have an extra room with a person needing a place to live, and in many cases services are exchanged for reduced rent.
Offers both a diversion program and a housing program that serves individuals needing assistance to remain in their homes or to find an affordable housing option.
The AHS program has been using an in-depth matching process to promote safety and compatibility while supporting a mutually beneficial relationship between Home Providers and Home Seekers.
The AHS program matches people who have an extra bedroom with a person needing an affordable place to live, and in many cases services are exchanged for a reduction in rent.
Home Providers might be senior citizens, persons with disabilities, working professionals, those at-risk of homelessness, single parents, or simply persons wishing to share their life and home with others.
For these people, homesharing offers companionship, independence, reduced household expenses, security, mutual support and much more.
Home Seekers might be older people on a fixed income or receiving disability benefits, lower wage earners, people overcoming a financial/personal setback, or those who are at-risk-of or currently experiencing homelessness.
For these people, homesharing offers an affordable housing option, an opportunity to achieve goals, the prospect of assisting others, independence and security.
A comprehensive process ensures that all parties are safe, compatible, and benefitting from a homesharing match.
Home Providers and Home Seekers must complete an in-depth application, a background check, and have a one-on-one meeting with case management to determine needs and compatibility for potential homesharing match.
At this point, staff will look for possible matches for referral. If a referral is made, staff will facilitate with all parties during the interviewing period, negotiating homesharing arrangements, and drafting of a Homesharing Agreement form. During the match, staff is available to provide community resources for other supportive services and conflict resolution.

Youth Host Home Program (YHH) offered by Associated Ministries
Youth Host Home Program (YHH) offered by Associated Ministries
Pairs a young person (age 16 - 24) experiencing homelessness with a caring individual/family that has a spare bedroom and wants to make a difference. Host Home Providers receive support services from a Housing Specialist.
Offers a program that pairs a young person experiencing homelessness with a caring household wanting to make a difference.
While Host Home Providers provide a living space and mentorship, the YHH program assist participants to overcome barriers preventing them from achieving educational, employment, and personal goals, and with developing skill-sets for attaining the self-sufficiency needed to live independently.
Host Home Providers are individuals and families with an extra bedroom in their house or apartment who are willing to open their home to a young person experiencing homelessness.
The YHH program seeks Providers who bring diverse attributes such as cultural backgrounds and lived experiences to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants to grow and express themselves.
Participants in the YHH program include males, females, those who identify as LGBTQ, and all races and ethnicities.
They may be victims of financial and economic conditions, young people exiting foster care, escaping abusive homes or fleeing domestic violence situations, and people with disabilities.
Potential Host Home Providers are taken through an application and on-boarding process and will receive support from the YHH Program Coordinator to prepare the Provider for accepting a young person into their home.
Once a Provider is active, a “match-meet” will be held between the Provider and participant to learn more about each other and to share each other’s expectations and hopes for the program.
Once housed, case management works closely with each participant in providing resources, guidance, and opportunities for them to progress toward achieving their goals and independence.
During the tenure of the match, Providers are expected to engage with the participant by providing mentoring to assist the young person to develop the skills, knowledge, and practices that will allow them to move forward toward permanent housing.
Participants and Providers have ongoing support throughout the duration of the homesharing match.
