VS provides assistance to those who cannot afford to pay for the kinds of services we provide, do not qualify for assistance elsewhere, or do not have family and friends to help them. This program of CCS uses volunteers to provide a variety of services to low income seniors or disabled people over 18. Our volunteers provide services such as yard care, transportation, shopping, minor home repair, errands and more. This agency may be able to assist in installing handicapped devices including ramps and grab bars. Clients must be living independently in their homes. Services are subject to availability of volunteers. Cannot assist those living in assisted living facilities. Transportation is primarily for medical appointments, shopping and errands. Out of area transportation such as Seattle, Bremerton, Bainbridge Island, Port Townsend is possible, but is based on the availability of a volunteer.
National Rebuilding Day offered at Rebuilding Together South Sound
Annual event that takes place the last Saturday of every April and brings sponsored teams together with skilled contractors and donated materials to complete repairs at 20 homes in Pierce County and cities of Federal Way and Auburn. May offer 0% interest loans for the Federal Way area. Contact agency for details and confirmation.

The program cannot assist with electrical repairs, remodeling, painting, yard work, trash hauling, cleaning, chore work, sewer or water connections, and appliance repair.

Provides home modifications for the health and safety of elderly and disabled Bainbridge Island residents so they may remain in their homes safely.
The Independent Living program provides home modifications for the elderly and disabled on Bainbridge, so that they may remain in their homes safely. Using funds from the City of Bainbridge Island’s Housing Trust Fund, private foundations, churches and individuals, HRB is able to hire contractors to make necessary alterations/improvements to inaccessible or unsafe homes. HRB also strives to educate the community to better meet the needs of this population.

Helps low-income homeowners in South King County make necessary home repairs for health and safety. Repairs include roofs, windows and exterior doors, gutters, siding, steps, ramps, walkways and driveways, landscaping, junk removal or exterior painting.
Provides critical and minor home repairs that alleviate health and safety issues for qualified homeowners in King and Kittitas Counties.
Also offers CAPABLE program to help older adults live safely in their home by partnering an Occupational Therapist and Registered Nurse together to set goals with the homeowner to achieve in a 4-5 month period. A handy-worker can potentially be involved to make minor repairs and modifications based on the goals set.

Assistance that may be available from volunteer workers may include services such as: - Yard care may include mowing lawn, raking leaves, or removing snow from walkways - Light housework and laundry - Transportation to doctors appointments, grocery stores, food banks, and other essential errands - Minor home repairs including minor electrical work, minor plumbing (leaking fixtures). No services related to roofs due to liability issues. - Errand running and shopping - Installing handicapped devices including ramps and grab bars. Cannot help with the purchase of constructions materials or devices. *This service cannot help with more extensive needs such as: replacing roofs, installing windows, painting, replacement or patching of walls or flooring, cleaning gutters, relocation, moving, or removal of garbage.
