Support Groups / Classes offered at National Alliance on Mental Illness Yakima NAMI
Offers support groups, classes, and advocacy for individuals and families of individuals who suffer from mental illness. Services include: - Connection Recovery Support Group: a weekly peer-facilitated group for adults living with mental illness which provides an opportunity to share challenges, strategies, and successes with others who understand. - Family Support Group: education, support, and advocacy for families, caregivers, and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. - Family to Family Class: consist of both lecture and open discussion with plenty of interaction with the instructors and class members. The course gives the practical and emotional support to sustain families in the role of caretaker and advocate. - NAMI Basics Class: online program for parents of children with a mental health condition. - Homefront: online program for families of active military personnel and veterans. - Peer to Peer: a recovery-focused educational program for adults 18 and over to establish and maintain wellness in response to their mental health challenges by providing critical information and strategies relating to living with mental illness. - Family and Friends: a 5-hour seminar for family members and friends of persons with a mental health condition. - Ending the Silence: presentation for students, school staff, and parents regarding mental illness. - Bridges of Hope presentations to Faith Communities. - Compartiendo Esperanza presentations en Espanol. - In Our Own Voice community presentations. - Also provides advocacy assistance.
