Worker Retraining offered at Shoreline Community College

Participates in a statewide program to assist unemployed individuals retrain for a new job or career.   The Worker Retraining Program is a partnership between community and technical colleges and the Washington State Employment Security and provides funding and other resources to enable unemployed individuals to acquire the skills needed to return to work. This could mean a short-term skills upgrade or a new career path and enrollment in a professional technical program.   Participation does NOT extend unemployment benefits.

Call for an appointment; orientation sessions are held on campus.

Fee

Advising and job search services are free.   Financial aid may be available for the costs of vocational training.   Training Completion Aid offered, depending on funds available.

Eligibility

Participants must:   -  Be receiving unemployment benefits or be eligible for benefits, OR. . .   -  Have exhausted their unemployment benefits within the past two years and still be unemployed, OR. . .   -  Have received a written notice of future layoff from employer and be eligible for unemployment benefits after layoff.
