Homeownership Program offered at Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity

Provides an opportunity for families to build and buy their own homes. The houses are built with volunteer labor and donated materials and are then sold at no profit to homeowner families. Please note that this agency does not provide immediate/emergency housing. This is a long-term housing program.

Eligibility

Households currently living in substandard housing and/or in need of safe and affordable housing who meet all of the following requirements: - Meet income guidelines, - Can commit to 350 hours of sweat equity in construction, - Are United States citizens or permanent residents, - Have not owned a home in the past three years, - Have the ability to make a mortgage payment (steady income and decent credit history). - Must credit qualify and pass background checks - Must already reside in the service area.
