Child Find offered by Seattle Public Schools No. 1
Coordinates the "Child Find" public awareness campaign to inform parents and community members of the benefit of special education services. A variety of district services are available for students aged 3-21, including instructional assistance in the regular education program and resource rooms in each building and self-contained specialized programs located in each geographical region of the city. Individual Education Program (IEP): - Must be developed before services can begin - Links findings from the evaluation by a multidisciplinary team with the child's learning program. - Tailored to each child's learning strengths and needs. It identifies meaningful annual goals and objectives that will help measure the child's progress. - Describes how the child will participate in the general classroom curriculum - Lists the special education and related services the child will receive. Bilingual Services: - Interpreters are provided during the evaluation process to ensure parents and guardians understand the process. - ESL services are provided in the special education program as defined in the student's IEP.

For students already being served in a local public school, referrals are taken through school psychologist. For students in private schools or under age 5, contact the Child Find office.

Eligibility
Multidisciplinary team evaluates to establish eligibility for services. Eligible students living in the city of Seattle may begin receiving services as early as age 3.
