Child Support Enforcement offered at Yakima County Prosecutor's Office

Represents the interest of the children and the State of Washington in actions for paternity, enforcement of child support obligations and modifications of child support and health insurance coverage. The Prosecuting Attorney is required by statue to initiate proceedings under the Unform Parentage Act in order to determine paternity, establish child support, health insurance coverage, and a residential schedule for all children born outside of a marriage or for children not born of a marriage.

The Office of the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney is comprised of three divisions: the criminal division, the child support division, and the corporate counsel (civil) division. Our mission is to equitably and judiciously represent the interest of the people of Yakima County and the State of Washington in the prosecution of criminal matters; to provide advocacy services for victims; to render legal counsel to County elected and appointed officials; to represent and defend the County in civil proceedings; and to represent the interests of the State and children by establishing and enforcing child support.
