Skookum Community Employment Services works with local businesses to develop job opportunities for people with disabilities in Kitsap, Jefferson, and Clallam counties. Employment Specialists match each person’s interests and abilities with the needs of employers in innovative ways in order to expand opportunities for people with disabilities in our community. Clients are typically referred to our program by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), or Department of Services for Blind (DSB) but are also welcome to apply independently. We also provide employment services in partnership with local agencies through the Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program, and we serve beneficiaries of Social Security (SSI/SSDI) through Social Security's Ticket to Work Program. Our professional staff help clients obtain and maintain jobs that match their skills, interests, and abilities. We provide support to individuals by helping them develop employment-related skills, access community resources, and obtain follow-up services if needed. We respect the dignity of each individual, provide person-centered services, and offer a flexible support structure to assist each customer in reaching their greatest potential. The individuals enrolled in the Skookum Community Employment Services program have unique abilities and the dedication to fulfill their potential as valued employees and members of the community.
