Workforce Education offered at North Seattle College
Provides assistance and support for entry or re-entry into the workforce through career training. This can be through financial assistance, basic needs/resource support, job placement assistance, or academic planning. There are various tuition assistance programs designed to support a student's personal and professional goals. If qualified, students may receive funding for tuition fees, textbooks, required supplies, transportation, and more. Each program is unique and provides additional assistance for students. Basic Food Employment & Training Program: Provides tuition, fees, required textbook and transportation funding for recipients of federal food assistance (Basic Food or SNAP) to increase employment opportunities. To qualify, students must enroll in an eligible training program and meet the eligibility criteria. WorkFirst: Provides tuition, fees and required textbooks for students who receive cash assistance from the DSHS Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, need training prior to working and have received approval to participate in WorkFirst from their DSHS case manager. To qualify for the WorkFirst program, students must enroll in an eligible training program and meet the eligibility criteria. Worker Retraining: Provides tuition, fees, required textbooks and sometimes transportation for laid-off and dislocated workers who need training to return to the workforce. To qualify for the Worker Retraining program, you must enroll in an eligible training program and meet one of the eligibility criteria. Opportunity Grant: Provides assistance for tuition, fees and required textbooks for low-income students who have not yet earned a degree and are studying an eligible program. OG provides assistance with up to 45 credits of tuition and $1000 per year for books.
