Provides information on City of Tacoma's fair housing law, making it illegal to discriminate in the rental, sale, financing, insurance, or advertising of housing because of the following protected categories: - Race - Color - Sex - Religion - National Origin or Ancestry - Familial Status - Disability - Marital Status - Age (over 40) - Sexual Orientation - Gender Identity - Veteran / Military Status - Use of Section 8 certificate or other alternative sources of income. May be helpful for residents of Tacoma who have ever: - Been denied an apartment or the purchase of a home - Had a landlord ask about your disability - Been denied housing because of your service animal - Had a housing provider tell you that families with children can only live on the ground floor - Been asked what country you are from - Found your maintenance requests go unanswered when your neighbors get their requests done immediately Property managers demonstrate fair housing by: - Gladly receiving inquiries from all. - Applying fair and equitable criteria when evaluating applicants. - Enforcing rules equally and without discrimination. - Setting rents, deposits and fees without discrimination. - Responding to repair requests and other tenant concerns equally. - Providing reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.
