Adoptions offered at Seattle Animal Shelter

Makes stray and homeless animals available for adoption.  Small animals such as snakes, guinea pigs, rats and mice, hamsters, gerbils and rabbits are available for adoption in addition to cats and dogs. All animals adopted are neutered or spayed.

Eligibility

Adults ages 18 and older.

Fee

Adoption fee varies by animal. Seattle's Gold Card for Healthy Aging or FLASH Card holders receive a 50% discount on adoption fees for dogs or cats ages 2 and older Cats, dogs, pigs and goats adopted to owners living in the city limits of Seattle must purchase a two-year license.

Provides licenses for dogs, cats, pot-bellied pigs and miniature goats. Enforces animal control ordinances and retrieves lost pets within the city limits of Seattle. Offers adoption services, sheltering of lost animals and pets of domestic violence victims, reduced or waived cat and dog adoption fees for older adults and people with disabilities and a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
