Advocates for the rights of residents, serves as mediator in the resolution of complaints of residents related to the quality of life in long term care settings, provides information to the public concerning long term care settings, and monitors the regulations and policies that affect long term care residents.

Provides planning, funding, and advocacy for long-term care services in the community. Provides seniors and adults with disabilities information, assistance, and case management. Conducts in-home assessments to determine the need for in-home care, family caregiver support, or other community-based services. Also operates the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, which advocates on behalf of residents in Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities.
