Senior Nutrition/Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels: Nutritious, well-balanced meals delivered to your home by friendly volunteers; Provides essential human connection; Meals meet 1/3 of daily nutritional requirements for optimum health for older adults; Client wellness checks provide information and resources and a sense of security for family and loved ones; For short-term and long-term needs. Monthly menus are available on the ISR website. Delicious healthy meals, most meals made from scratch. Sugar-free and gluten-free meals are available. Liquid Nutritional Supplements are available by the case with a doctor’s prescription.

Fee

Meals are provided on a “by-donation” basis. Donations are needed to keep the program running. Clients pay what they can. No one is turned away for inability to pay. Actual cost of a meal is $12.20, and ISR relies on the community to cover more than half the actual cost of providing a meal to someone in need. Liquid Nutritional Supplements suggested donation is $30/case.

Eligibility

Recipients must be age 60+ (or the spouse of a person 60+); Unable to shop for and/or prepare a full meal; at risk for malnutrition.

Island Senior Resources serves all of Island County with locations in Bayview (South Whidbey), Oak Harbor, and Camano Island.
