Community Based Mentoring Program offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington - Olympia Office
Bigs and Littles meet 2 to 4 times a month at times that fit the schedules of the Big, Little, and guardian. Time is one-on-one, meaning that Bigs and Littles are in public, but focus their time on getting to know one another. Big Brothers Big Sisters staff and guardians provide safety supports for the match. Visit website to see how children are kept safe in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Matches hang out in the community and do activities they both enjoy: go to museums or sports events, make crafts, go on a hike, explore the community, and more. It’s up to the Big and the Little! Plan outings whenever it’s convenient. Being a Big is all about sharing enjoyable experiences with a child in the community. It doesn’t take a lot of time or money or any special skills. All you need is a willingness to be a friend to a child who needs a positive role model. Bigs consistently tell us that they “get back more than they give,” and having a Big changes a child’s life for the better, forever!

Changing Lives for the Better: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington is committed to igniting the potential of youth in our community. We pair a volunteer mentor one to one with a child and we call this a “match”. Once matched, mentors, or “Bigs,” develop friendships with their youth, “Littles.” It’s that simple. We have many programs in which one-to-one mentoring can make a positive impact! We serve families and mentors in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor, and Pacific counties in Washington state
