The Designated Crisis Responders (DCR's) are the only individuals who can detain people exhibiting severe behavioral health issues or substance use disorder by enforcing the Involuntary Treatment Act. Requirements for involuntary detainment include: Establish Imminence of Risk and Meet one of the following criteria: Danger to Self, Danger to Others or Grave Disability.

Discovery Behavioral Healthcare

Discovery Behavioral Healthcare, formerly Jefferson Mental Health Services (JMHS), is a private not-for-profit (501c3 status) community mental health center providing both mental health and behavioral health care services to children, families, adults and seniors in East Jefferson County, Washington State.  Its offices are located in Port Townsend, Washington; out-station services are provided in south county (Quilcene and Brinnon Washington).  Community based services are also provided in schools and other settings on an individualized basis. DBH programs are designed to assist individuals who are affected by mental illness or behavioral or emotional disorders to receive services necessary to maintain independent functioning.  Our services are tailored to the needs of each individual, including linkage with natural supports in the community.  Because of our commitment to mental health, JMHS collaborates with the community in providing preventive activities.   DBH is committed to the East Jefferson County community and to collaboration with other providers and community members so that the best possible services may be delivered to everyone's benefit.
