Virtual Clinic offered by University of Washington Medical Center

Provides treatment via web camera, phone or app for a variety of minor illnesses such as asthma, back pain, pink eye, sore throat, seasonal allergies and flu.  Virtual visits should not replace a relationship with a primary care provider. Prescribes medications including antibiotics when indicated, allergy medications, anti-nausea medications, and various skin creams or ointments. UW Medicine Virtual Clinic providers will not prescribe or refill medications for the treatment of a psychiatric condition, and they will not prescribe controlled substances, including medications such as: -  Narcotic medications (i.e. Oxycodone, Vicodin, Percocet, Codeine) -  Anti-anxiety medications (i.e. Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin) Visits typically last about 20 minutes.

Application process

Call or visit website, or download the app. No appointments. When a visit is requested, the clinic arranges a visit with the next available provider.  Patient will typically be contacted within 30 minutes, and, once contacted, the wait time is usually less than 15 minutes.

Fee

UW Medicine Telemedicine Visits are with UW Medicine doctors and are a covered benefit for most insurance plans. These visits are billed to your health insurance in a similar way as in-person appointments. UW Medicine On-Demand Virtual Care with 98point6 subscription is available to anyone ages 18+ at an introductory rate of $30 + $1 per visit for the first three months. After that, annual plans are only $120 per year + $1 per visit.

Eligibility

At the beginning of the virtual visit, the provider determines whether the health concern is appropriate for care. Website option requires Internet Explorer 9 or higher, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari Internet browsers. Must be browsing from a computer in Washington state.
