Representative Payee / Fiduciary Programs offered at Share and Care House - Seattle

Contracts with Social Security Administration (SSA) to provide Representative Payee Services. SSA determines individuals receiving SS benefits to be in need of assistance in managing their finances. Trained Specialists work closely with the participants, care providers and social workers setting up budgets with the goal of meeting the client's basic needs, maintaining stable housing, and beyond. Social Security currently sets the monthly fee for this service, or 10% of the beneficiaries' income, whichever is less. This fee is often covered through Medicaid programs and may not directly impact the participant. Contracts with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide Legal Fiduciary Custodian Services. The VA determines which individuals require assistance in managing their benefits, contracts with Share and Care House, and issues the benefits to Share and Care House on behalf of the individuals. Trained Specialists work closely with VA Field Representatives, Care Providers, Social Workers, and the clients served in setting up budgets with the goal of meeting their basic needs, stable housing and beyond. THe VA currently sets the fee for this service at up to 4% of the beneficiary monthly income. Also assists the participants in these programs with the management of their wages, pensions, tax returns, and other sources of income upon request of the participant. Provides this additional service at no additional charge and adheres to all State and Federal guidelines in the performance of this extended program. Share and Care House has provided money management services for over thirty years for disabled individuals to help eminate exploitation and homelessness. Guardianship Services are provided from the Tacoma Office.
