Energy Assistance
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that provides assistance to help low-income families and individuals pay heating bills during the winter. Assistance is paid directly to the utility or energy provider on the client's behalf. Homeowners may also qualify for limited heating system repairs or air conditioning/cooling. Assistance is limited to eligible households, one time per year. Additional energy assistance may also be available from specific private utility Fuel Funds.

Application process
When appointments are available: - No drop-ins. Call or visit the website to schedule an appointment. - Phones will open at 7am, and the internet will start scheduling appointments at 9am. - Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis. - Callers will be asked pre-qualifying questions to determine eligibility. - Callers will be asked to provide required documentation to establish eligibility at the time of the appointment. - When calling in, please follow instructions so timely service can be provided. - The program usually begins in September and continues until all funds are committed. Those who have no heat may call at any time to see if there are appointments available.

Eligibility
Eligibility is based on household income. The gross income received by all members of the household must be at or below 150% of the federal poverty level for LIHEAP. The other funds may have different income requirements.
