Court has jurisdiction over all violations of the Seattle Municipal Code. Hears misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic and non-traffic infractions, and parking violations. Those charged with a criminal, jailable offense may be eligible for a public defender at the public's expense.

Application process
Action is initiated when a complaint is filed by the prosecuting attorney or when a law enforcement officer files a citation with the court. Contact the court to be screened for a public defender. All out-of-custody criminal hearings may be attended virtually (by phone or online) or in person unless ordered to appear in person. Pay tickets online, by phone, or by mail.
Fee
Fines and copying fees vary. The maximum penalty for a gross misdemeanor is 364 days in jail and a $5,000 fine. A transaction fee is applied for online and phone payments. Payment plans are available.
