After School Program offered by Kent Youth and Family Services at Birch Creek Youth Center

Offers educational and recreational activities, field trips, life skills and enrichment groups, homework assistance and computer technology programs for kids at three King County Housing Authority sites on the East Hill of Kent: Birch Creek Apartments, Valli Kee Homes, and Cascade Apartments. After-school and Summer Programming includes amateur athletic sports, recreation and education activities and computer lab programs in each of the community recreation centers. Working with the Kent School District, a summer lunch program is offered to all kids under the age of 18 at all three of our sites.   Helps reduce juvenile crime by providing youth with helpful free-time alternatives with unconditional support of positive adult role models.

Eligibility

Youth ages 6 through 18 and their families who are in or surrounding Birch Creek, Cascade, or Valli Kee housing sites in Kent.

Offers transitional housing and support for homeless single young mothers, ages 16-17 who are at least six months pregnant or who have one or two children. Provides substance use disorder treatment and counseling for behavioral problems involving youth and their family. Runs Head Start and ECEAP programs. Provides a homework help program for children and youth in Kent area public housing.
