Acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions. Enforces the National Labor Relations Act which protects the rights of employees, employers and unions; encourages collective bargaining, and curtails certain private sector labor and management practices.

Application process

Call and leave a message with name and contact phone number as well as brief description of the issue. Calls are generally returned within 24 hours. Formal complaints are registered by filing an Unfair Labor Practice Charge with the NLRB. Elections are conducted by filing a Petition with supporting documents.

Enforces the provisions of the National Labor Relations Act which protects employees in their relationships with labor unions and their employer. Investigates unfair labor practices in the private sector. Conducts elections where employees can choose or not choose a collective bargaining representative for wages, hours and working conditions. Provides guidance through an Information Officer program in locating additional resources. Does not have jurisdiction over public sector employers, public sector employees and railroads or airlines.
