Provides information on how to obtain a driver license and license renewals, and issues driver licenses. License renewals are valid for six years. Processes address changes. Anyone changing addresses within the state of Washington has 10 days to notify the Licensing Department. Office locations are available on the website. Some offices offer driving tests. Lists driver training schools, driver testing locations and CDL training schools throughout Washington state. Application process
Visit website to find a local office. For an initial driver license or identification card, applicant must present proof of identity including name, date of birth, signature and photo. (A more specific list of acceptable proof is available on website. ) Applicants must pass a vision exam and provide Social Security number. New licenses also require passing written and driving exams, though exams are waived if applicant has a current and valid driver license from another state.

First driver license: $89 for a six-year card; renewals are $54 Learner's permit: $25 for one year; can be renewed twice at $25 per year ID or driver's license card renewal: $54 for a five-year card Replacement of lost or stolen ID or driver's license card: $20 See website for full fee listing. ID card: $54 for a six-year card ID card for people who are homeless: Free DSHS clients can receive or renew an ID card for $5 if they have the DSHS form 16-029 filled out by a DSHS caseworker.
Eligibility
Driver license: Must be age 18 or older and a Washington state resident. Ages 16 through 18 must have completed a driver's training course and have signed parental permission or proof of emancipation.
