Adult & Family Cooking Classes offered at Solid Ground

Offers classes on healthy cooking, good nutrition and food budgeting. Each class meets once a week for six weeks. Classes last two hours and are taught by local chef and nutrition volunteers at schools, community, family, and multi-service centers. Nutrition education and hands-on cooking experiences are incorporated into each class. Class participants receive a bag of groceries each week allowing them to practice preparing the recipe made in class. A class field trip is scheduled for adult classes; participants receive a grocery store certificate that they can use on the trip. Specialized classes are available for different ages as well as in other languages.

Delivers legal services to help people restore or otherwise access state benefits. Coordinates nutrition education programs. Operates a domestic violence crisis line and a domestic violence shelter with supportive services. SHIBA volunteers answer questions about Medicare and long-term care insurance.
