Animal Services offered at Auburn Valley Humane Society

Facilitates the adoption of stray and surrendered dogs and cats. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.   Operates a monthly pet food pantry. Pet owners may apply for monthly pet food or one-time emergency assistance for 30 days worth of supplies. Pays up to $500 in vet bills to low-income Auburn residents. Provides temporary housing and care for owned pets if the owner is temporarily unable to care for their pets.

Application process

Visit in person, e-mail and/or call to obtain an application, get information on adoption and to verify current adoption costs. Shelter pets also available at local Petsmarts.

Fees vary by animal.

Eligibility

Must be at least 18 years of age and able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for the pet. Veterinary Assistance Fund - Limited to low-income Auburn residents and can only be used once per lifetime. Pets in Crisis - Owners who are temporarily unable to provide care for their pet(s) due to an unforeseen emergency such as loss of housing or a medical crisis (physical or mental health-related). This program is an alternative for owners whose only other option would be to rehome their pet(s).
