Seattle Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Commission offered at Seattle Office for Civil Rights

Commission promotes social, economic and political equity for women and LGBTQ individuals. Occurs through legislation, policy development, education and advocacy with organizations and institutions.   Advocacy:   Promotes equity for women and LGBTQ individuals concerning domestic violence, employment barriers (including sexual harassment and discrimination) and other issues.   Information and Referral:   Connects individuals with resources in the community that address the needs of women and LGBTQ individuals on issues including sexual harassment, domestic violence, employment discrimination, hate crimes, domestic partnership and women in business.   Publishes informational materials on many of these topics.   Advance notice needed for a language interpreter.

Residents of the city of Seattle.   Services provided without regard to and without asking about an individual’s immigration status. Commission meetings are open to the public.

Investigates and resolves complaints regarding discrimination in employment, housing, public places and contracting. Monitors and advocates laws, policies, and programs that promote race and social justice. Promotes programs that ensure social, legal and economic equality for people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community and enforces the City of Seattle's four Labor Standards ordinances.
