SNAP-Ed offered at WSU Pierce County Extension

Provides school-based nutrition education programs for elementary and middle school youth designed to provide limited income families with the knowledge and skills to include healthy foods and activities into everyday life. Also teaches seniors, disabled and other adults in community based settings such as food banks, transitional and affordable housing sites, to identify healthy patterns of eating and physical activity through interactive activities, garden-enhanced nutrition education and simple food preparation skills.

Eligibility

Limited income youth, families, and adults. Families must meet income eligibility for programs like Free & Reduced School Meals, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), TANF, WIC, and Section 8 Housing. Participants must meet federal poverty guidelines.
