Marriage Licenses offered at Chelan County Government

Issues marriage licenses and certified copies of Marriage Certificates in Chelan County. Licenses have a three day lapse before they are valid and must be used within 60 days. The marriage license allows people to get married, a marriage certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed.

Application process

Both parties must be present and be 18 years of age or older, with photo ID to apply for a marriage license. If either party is 17, they must have parental consent. Both applicants must be present when applying in person. Applying by mail is also an option, visit website or call for details.

Fee

There is a $57 fee at the time of application by cash or check, and is non refundable for a marriage license. The fee for a certified copy is $3.

Eligibility

-  Age Requirements: Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older. If 17 years of age, the applicant must be accompanied by a parent or guardian that will sign a consent form; this parent must also present photo ID. If 16 or younger, permission must be obtained from the Juvenile Court prior to licensing. -  Waiting Period: There is a mandatory 3-day (calendar day) waiting period before the license becomes valid, no exceptions can be made. -  Period Valid: The ceremony must be performed in any Washington county within 60 days of application.
